Desiree Perez, the woman representing Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label, has remained relatively anonymous since she became a force in the music industry. She doesn’t have a social media presence, and her name isn’t plastered on billboards for everyone to see. However, you don’t have to search hard online to find Perez’s credits. From Beyonce Knowles-Carter to Rihanna, she has represented some of the biggest names in hip hop.

In a world where being a woman and an entrepreneur is not always welcomed, Desiree Perez stands as a breath of fresh air. The president and COO of Empire Management Group (EMG) and current CEO of Roc Nation, She’s the epitome of the most compelling woman in hip hop by Forbes magazine. Yet, early in her career, Perez was often mistaken for an assistant because she was such a rare find. A female executive who could hold her own.

She was born in the Bronx and grew up in New York City. Jay-Z asked her to join Roc Nation when he launched the company. She has been praised for her business acumen and commitment to social issues. She married the leader of Roc Nation Sports, Juan Perez. Jay-Z continues to rely on the assistance of Mrs Perez and also recognizes her work. Jay Brown, the former CEO, will now be Vice-President.

Desiree Perez was honored with Executive of the Year at Billboard Women in Music 2019. Former Roc Nation CEO Jay Brown called her “fearless, a champion and a true humanitarian.” Desiree Perez was nominated Executive of the Year at the Billboard Women in Music gala. She has been involved with Roc Nation since 2009 as Chief Operating Officer. Jay-Z established Roc Nation in 2008, and it now has offices in New York, Los Angeles, London, and Nashville.
